Ryanair Sees Red over Russian Rival
Low-cost carrier Ryanair has seen red over the antics of one of its Russian rivals and is threatening to sue, according to new reports.
The Irish airline was riled when Moscow-based Vladivostok Air began selling connections with Ryanair flights without a code share agreement.
Deputy chief executive of Ryanair, Howard Millar, stressed the airline's position on the Russian carrier's actions.
He said: "We're going to act immediately to stop them booking passengers on our flights.
"We'll also be exploring legal options, because they are doing this entirely without our consent."
Vladivostok Air had been offering flights to London, Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, and Madrid through Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, which are all established Ryanair routes.
The Russian carrier's website said: "Frankfurt-Hahn route is smoothly connected to Ryanair's regular flights to London, Rome, Milan, Barcelona (Girona), Dublin, Madrid."
In related news, a German tour operator has grounded the nudist flights that grabbed headlines at the beginning of 2008, citing bad publicity as the reason.
